Tenerife Symphony Orchestra concert schedule – Season 2007/2008
OST

This building’s unusual, modern architecture lends it its singular and marked personality, not only is it the new events centre for southern Tenerife, but has also become one of the prime cultural references of the island. Its unique style provides great variety for the events that take place in the centre, as it is not only a conference centre, but has also been designed to satisfy the large variety of needs generated by the events market.

This extremely voluptuous building blends into the landscape, forming a delicate, pleasant continuation of it and emerges from the surroundings in the form of thirteen monoliths composed of a combination of volcanic rock and cement, which its architects interpret as a volcanic eruption. The curved roof is an interpretation of water in movement and is in perfect harmony with the rest of the building’s elements.

Magma Art and Congresses, as an architectural reality, was created by AMP architects; Felipe Artengo Rufino, Fernando Martín Menis and José María Rodríguez Pastrana Malagón. Their project was chosen from among three award-winning projects from the Manuel de Oraá and Arcocha 2004-2005 regional architectural competition.

Magma was officially inaugurated on the 22 of November 2005, by Their Majesties The King & Queen of Spain and began its advance into the events industry at the beginning of 2006.

Situated only 10 minutes from the Reina Sofia International Airport, beside the main local bus station and in the heart of the Adeje Coast, Magma is not only surrounded by magnificent hotels but also by leisure and restaurant facilities. If we add Tenerife’s lovely climate to these unbeatable characteristics, Magma fits the profile of the perfect place to celebrate any type of event.

The centre has many types of meeting rooms and other different areas available (V.I.P. lounge, press room, plenary room, main hall, etc.). All of which can be subdivided with panels, adaptable to the necessities of any event and fully equipped with state of the art audiovisual and communication technology. Catering, hostess, decoration services etc. are also available. Magma can host events for groups of 100 to 2,500 people.

A brief description of the areas and halls:

-The main hall covers 2,840m², with capacity for 2.500 people and a 300m² stage. This hall has superb acoustics and it can be set up to hold a banquet for 2,000 guests.

-The Hall and entrance area of the centre is 1,219 m² and among other amenities it has an exhibition area, café, cloakroom, receptionist, storeroom and ticket booth. It can host a banquet for up to 700 people.

-The Upper Hall (first floor): it has an area of 1,865 m² and can be divided into 5 halls with a capacity of up to 300 people in each. It can accommodate a banquet for 900 guests.

-Exterior Expo: it is a 4,500 meters squared, exterior, multipurpose area, which permits the use of awnings and stages for activities. As you can see, the areas have very versatile and functional natures.

Relevant events celebrated to date:

We would like to highlight; the worldwide presentation of the Audi Q7, the annual congress of the German travel agency and tour operator DRV, the convention of SONY Spain, the convention of L´Oreal Spain, the celebration of the national congress on maxillofacial surgery and the convention of the German pharmaceutical company, MSD, The annual convention of UK Travel Agents and Tour Operators Association (ABTA).

At the moment Magma is working on fulfilling many short-term aims and objectives. Through promotion in collaboration with Tenerife Tourism, it is trying to consolidate its position in the national and principal international markets, such as the United Kingdom and Germany.

Similarly, it is trying to get ahead in the events market in other European countries. Magma Art and Congresses’ aim is to be a global reference in the events industry in the near future.
